RED SEAL AUTO BODY EXPERTISE IN EDMONTON
Monday-Friday 9:00 AM-4:30 PM
Saturday by appointment
Old school workmanship. Modern protection.
Paint correction is machine polishing done properly: removing correctable swirls, light scratches, oxidation and water spot etching from your clear coat instead of hiding them with filler wax. It is the difference between paint that photographs well for an afternoon and paint that looks right in person, in daylight, for years.
It is also where an auto body background matters most. Knowing how much clear coat you are working with, and when a defect needs bodywork instead of polishing, is the line between restoration and damage.
Tell us about your vehicle. Kay will review the details and recommend the right next step.
WHAT PAINT CORRECTION DOES
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
Correction only makes sense when the clear coat can spare it. Because Kay is a Red Seal auto body technician, the assessment you get is a body-shop assessment: what can safely be polished out, what should be left alone, and what actually needs repair. If your paint does not need correction, we will say so.
01
Inspection under proper light to map the defects and measure what is safe to correct
02
Thorough wash and decontamination, including bonded contamination removal
03
Machine polishing in the stages the paint needs, panel by panel
04
Panel wipe so corrected paint is truly clean before protection goes on
05
Finished with ceramic coating, film or both, if you want the result sealed in
01
Automatic car wash swirls on a daily driver
02
Dealer-prep haze on a new vehicle before it is coated
03
Oxidation and fading on older paint that still has healthy clear coat
04
Water spot etching after a summer of sprinklers
Worth knowing
Corrected paint that is left unprotected starts collecting swirls again the first time it is washed wrong. Most customers finish correction with a Ceramic Pro coating, Paint Protection Film (PPF) or both. Tell Kay how you use the vehicle and she will recommend what is worth doing.
Questions
Can all scratches be polished out?
No, and any shop that says otherwise is not being straight with you. If a scratch has gone through the clear coat, polishing will not fix it and can make things worse. We assess and tell you honestly what correction can do.
How do I know if my paint needs correction?
Look at the paint in direct sunlight. If you see spider-web swirls or haze under the sun, that is correctable in most cases. Send us photos with your quote request and Kay will give you an honest first read.
Is correction safe for my clear coat?
When it is measured and done by people who understand paint, yes. That is exactly why the work is done here with auto body knowledge behind it instead of a one-setting buffer.
How long does correction take?
It depends on the paint's condition and how many stages it needs. Kay confirms the timeline with your quote before drop-off.
