RED SEAL AUTO BODY EXPERTISE IN EDMONTON
Monday-Friday 9:00 AM-4:30 PM
Saturday by appointment
Old school workmanship. Modern protection.
A ceramic coating is a liquid protection layer that cures onto your paint. Done properly, it adds serious gloss, makes the vehicle easier to wash and helps shield the finish from UV exposure and environmental contamination. Done casually, it seals in whatever was already on the paint.
The difference between those two outcomes is almost everything that happens before the coating bottle is ever opened. That is why the first thing we do is look at your paint, not hand you a package sheet.
Tell us about your vehicle. Kay will review the details and recommend the right next step.
WHAT CERAMIC COATING DOES
WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
This city is hard on paint. Months of road film and slush, sand and gravel, freeze-thaw cycles and strong summer sun all take a toll. A properly installed ceramic coating gives Edmonton drivers a finish that stays cleaner, washes faster and shrugs off the contamination a northern winter leaves behind.
A coating locks in the condition of the paint underneath it. Swirls, water spots and old polish residue that are not dealt with first will still be there, sealed under a glossy layer. This is where our background matters: Kay is a Red Seal auto body technician, so paint condition, clear coat and correction are assessed the way a body shop assesses them, not the way a quick-detail menu does.
01
Inspection. We look over the paint, its history and its condition with you, and talk through what you actually want
02
Decontamination. Safe washing, iron and tar removal, and mechanical decontamination so the surface is truly clean
03
Correction where needed. Machine polishing to remove correctable swirls and light defects before anything is sealed in
04
Application. The coating is applied panel by panel under controlled conditions by our team, with Kay overseeing the work
05
Cure and final inspection. Proper cure time, then an inspection under proper light before the vehicle is handed back
06
Aftercare. You get clear guidance on washing and care so the protection does its job for years

Worth knowing
Many customers protect the impact zones (front bumper, hood leading edge, mirrors, rocker panels) with Paint Protection Film (PPF) and coat the rest of the vehicle. The film takes the chips, the coating keeps everything glossy and easy to clean. If you are weighing both, tell Kay and she will recommend a setup that fits how you drive.
Questions
Will a ceramic coating stop rock chips?
No. A coating adds chemical resistance and gloss, but it is not a physical barrier. Paint Protection Film (PPF) is what absorbs chips and road debris. Many customers combine the two.
My vehicle is new. Does it still need correction before coating?
Often, yes. New vehicles frequently arrive with swirls and light defects from dealership washing and transport prep. We inspect first and only correct what the paint actually needs.
How long does the work take?
It depends on the vehicle, its condition and how much correction the paint needs. Kay confirms the timeline with your quote so you know exactly what to expect before drop-off.
What products do you use?
We install Ceramic Pro products. We are currently completing our Ceramic Pro onboarding, and we will publish package details once everything is confirmed on our end.
